A Flying Visit!
Produce Packaging were delighted to host a visit from the Flying Farmers Association at our Marden HO on the 20th April. Along with our colleagues from H L Hutchinson we welcomed visitors from across the country.
Landing at nearby Headcorn Aerodrome, 12 aircraft and 28 members of the FFA had arrived from as far afield as Warwickshire to enjoy a combination of their passions – flying and farming.
Bussed from Headcorn to Produce Packaging HO in the best tradition of day trips, our guests were welcomed by Mark Tierney and Lee Cooper from PP and Oliver Wood and James Short from Hutchinsons.
In two groups, our guests were presented with introductions to both sides of our business (Packaging and Agronomy) focussing on the leading-edge technologies being incorporated into our offering. Produce Packaging discussing modern, environmentally sound materials and production methods and Hutchinsons on the use of remote mapping to best utilise and adapt existing soil conditions. Both being well received as informative and enlightening.
Following a light lunch, our guests were given a tour of our Marden HQ including the recently remodelled office complex, our extensive main warehousing and our box erecting facility. We were able to further demonstrate the part technology plays in the investment and growth of our business through the digital management of our stores and the mechanical advances made between our oldest box erecting machine to the latest state of the art models, recently installed.
At the end of the visit, Mark Tierney was delighted to be presented with a Clock bearing the FFA’s logo and motto by Neville Stops, the FFA’s events organiser – and we were only too happy to present our visitors the now ubiquitous ‘Hutchinsons / Produce Packaging’ goodie bag, packed with mementos of their day.
In beautiful weather and good spirits, all agreed that it was nice to be able to arrange and enjoy this type of event again. We returned to Headcorn to see off the FFA squadron and are looking forward to similar events in the future.
